Ask anyone searching for the best Indian restaurant in Fulham what they want, and the answer is usually the same: real flavour, fresh ingredients and a menu that offers something new on every visit. That is exactly what our à la carte menu is built to do. Here is a guide to the dishes, from the first crisp papad to the last spoonful of dal makhani.
Pure Indian Cooking has been serving modern Indian food on Fulham High Street since 2015. Our Chef Shilpa Dandekar trained with the Taj Group, cooked at Michelin-starred Quilon and was head chef at Raymond Blanc's Brasserie Blanc. You can taste every one of those kitchens on the à la carte menu.
To begin: papad and chaat
Every great Indian meal starts with something crisp, tangy and a little playful. Our papad selection (£4) brings plain papad, sago papad and khakhra with garlic tomato chutney and mango chutney. Then comes chaat, the street food of India, made with care:
- Papadi Chaat (£9): crispy wafers topped with potatoes, onion, tomato, chutneys and sev.
- Dahi Puri (£9): crunchy puris filled with chickpeas, tamarind and sweet yoghurt, finished with pomegranate.
- Pani Puri (£9): the classic, crisp hollow puris with chickpeas, tamarind chutney and mint water.
Starters worth sharing
Our starters capture what we set out to be: a luxury Indian restaurant in Fulham that still feels warm and relaxed. The Patra Chaat (£11) layers colocasia leaves with yoghurt, date and tamarind chutney and pomegranate. The Crispy Buttermilk Chicken (£10) is marinated overnight in buttermilk, coriander and aromatic spices before being fried to golden perfection.
For something with heat, try the Andhra Shrimps (£11) tossed in a spicy fennel masala, or the Squid Chilli Fry (£11) with Kashmiri chilli, lime and lemon mayonnaise. Can't decide? The Sharing Board (£20) brings basil chicken tikka, seekh kebab, tandoori paneer and vegetables, chilli fried squid and curried cashew nuts to the table.

From the tandoor
The clay oven is the heart of any Indian kitchen, and ours is where some of the best Indian food in London begins. Highlights include:
- Lamb Chops (£19): French-trimmed rack of lamb with carrot and raw papaya salad.
- Methi Malai Chicken Tikka (£12): marinated in cream, fenugreek, cardamom and mace.
- Tandoori Prawn (£16): jumbo prawns in chilli and kasundi mustard, with brown butter and chilli coriander sauce.
- Dill & Pink Peppercorn Salmon (£15): with fennel, beetroot salad and coriander chutney.
- Achari Broccoli (£11) and Malabari Paneer Tikka (£11): two vegetarian favourites full of character.
All-time favourites
Sometimes only a classic will do. Our biryanis (lamb £22, prawn £23 and chicken £20) are cooked with fragrant spices in the traditional way. Butter Chicken (£16) and Chicken Tikka Masala (£16) are made properly, with tandoori chicken and a rich, slow-built sauce.
Main courses: where the chef's story shows
This is where Shilpa's love of both Indian and classical French technique comes together. The Tandoori Duck (£22) pairs Barbary duck breast with whole spices, potato turnip rosti, citrus chilli coriander jus and confit orange. The Venison Lal Maas (£23) brings Lincolnshire venison in a smoky red curry of Jodhpuri chilli, yoghurt and garlic.
"Great ingredients also inspire great dishes — it's as simple as that."Chef Shilpa Dandekar
Lamb lovers have plenty to choose from: the slow-cooked Homestyle Lamb Curry on the bone (£18), the Nalli Ghosht lamb shank with fennel and nutmeg (£23), and Maharashtrian-style Lamb Sukke (£18). From the sea, there's Chef Shilpa's own Halibut Fish Curry (£23), Panfried Seabass & Mixed Seafood in raw mango sauce (£20), and our showpiece Garlic Butter Grilled Lobster (£25) with masala crumb fried avocado and a coconut and curry leaf sauce.

Vegetarian dishes that steal the show
Vegetarian dishes are £9 to £11, and none of them is an afterthought. The Dal Makhani is slow-cooked overnight. Lasooni Palak brings creamy spinach with brown garlic, Bhindi Anardana adds a pomegranate twist to okra, and Asparagus Poriyal is tempered with mustard and curry leaves. We also offer plenty of vegan and gluten-free options, with allergens clearly marked on the menu.
Breads, rice and sides
Finish the table with saffron pulao (£4), butter, garlic or chilli coriander naan (£3), Peshawari naan with coconut and cashew (£4), kheema naan stuffed with minced lamb (£4), laccha paratha (£4) and cooling raita (£4).
