When can you have lunch at Pure Indian Cooking?
Lunch is a weekend affair here. On Saturday and Sunday the doors open at 1pm and we stay open into the evening, so a late lunch is as easy as an early one. The set lunch menu is available on both days, and you can order from the à la carte menu too.
From Monday to Friday there is no lunch service. If a weekday is your only option, our early dinner runs every day from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, at £27 for two courses or £33 for three, with your table held for one hour. It is not available on match days or special events.
What is on the weekend set lunch?
The structure is simple. Every table can begin with a pre-starter, then each guest chooses a starter, a main and, for three courses, a dessert.
Pre-starter
Papad, Tomato & Mango Chutney (£2.25). Crisp, light and something to nibble while you read the menu.
Starters and the tandoor
You can pick one dish from the starters or straight from the clay oven:
- Patra Chaat: colocasia leaves with yoghurt, date and tamarind chutney, pomegranate, onion, tomato and sev.
- Crispy Buttermilk Chicken: marinated overnight in buttermilk, coriander and aromatic spices.
- Squid Chilli Fry: Kashmiri chilli, lime and herbs, with lemon mayonnaise.
- Pulled Lamb Tacos: black pepper and curry leaf spiced lamb, guacamole and spring onion.
- From the tandoor: Malabari Paneer Tikka, Methi Malai Chicken Tikka or Seekh Kebab.
If Patra Chaat is new to you, our post what is Patra Chaat? explains the dish and its roots in western India.
Mains
Mains come from four groups, so there is something for every appetite:
| Group | Choices |
|---|---|
| Chicken | Kadai Style Chicken; Mangalorean Chicken |
| Lamb | Homestyle Lamb Curry; Lamb Sukke |
| Seafood (supplement £3) | Prawn Curry; Halibut Fish Curry |
| Vegetarian | Lasooni Palak; Bhindi Anardana; Baingan Bharta; Dal Tadka; Dal Makhani |
Rice and breads on the lunch menu include saffron pulao, steamed rice, butter naan and tandoori roti, and you can add raita or yoghurt for £2.50. The Dal Makhani, slow cooked overnight and mildly spiced, is described on the menu as a restaurant speciality; our Dal Makhani guide explains why it takes so long.

Dessert
The third course is a choice of Broken Wheat & Nuts Halwa, slow cooked in milk, clarified butter and nuts; the Gulab Jamun Chocolate Brownie with masala chai sauce and vanilla ice cream; ice creams (pistachio or brown butter); or sorbets (mango or lemon). The brownie is a good example of how the kitchen plays with tradition, borrowing from the syrup-soaked gulab jamun.
How do you order a great Indian lunch in Fulham?
A few habits make lunch more enjoyable:
- Share the mains. If two or three of you order different curries, everyone tastes more of the menu.
- Balance the heat. Lamb Sukke and Prawn Curry are marked spicy; pair one with something gentle like Lasooni Palak or Dal Makhani.
- Mix textures. A dry dish such as Lamb Sukke next to a saucy one like Mangalorean Chicken makes the table more interesting.
- Leave room. Three courses at £25 is the better deal if you know you will want dessert.
What should you drink at lunch?
A long weekend lunch suits something light. From the drinks list, a Mango Lassi (£5.50) is the classic partner for spice, and mocktails such as Kokum Sharbat and Elderflower Ginger Cooler are £7. Beer drinkers have Cobra (£4.95), White Rhino IPA (£5.95) or San Miguel Non-Alcoholic (£4.95).
For wine by the glass, Principato Pinot Grigio is £8 and Grover's Sauvignon Blanc from Karnataka, India, is £10. A glass of Pasqua Prosecco (£11) turns lunch into a small celebration. The full wine list has more by the bottle.
Is weekend lunch good for families?
Very. Families and children are welcome, and lunchtime is often the easiest slot for younger diners. Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome too, so you can come straight from a walk; Fulham Palace and Bishop's Park are nearby. We offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and allergens are marked on every menu. Please always tell our team about allergies.
Who cooks your lunch?
Chef Shilpa Dandekar, our Executive Chef, who runs the restaurant with her husband Faheem Vanoo. Both began their careers with the Taj Group in India, and Shilpa went on to cook at Quilon and Brasserie Blanc in London. Read more on our about page.
